Wild magnolia trees in Colombia are diminishing due to deforestation.
These old species have existed on our planet for 85 million years--surviving the dinasours. They are now threatened by humans and their chainsaws. The Wild Magnolias are being cut down as the forest is clear cut for coffee plantations. Shadegrown coffee comes from coffeeplants inhabiting the forest and not in deforested fields. This is one way that buying shadegrown coffee benefits biodiversity.
